Palestinian Source: Israel's Demands Are Blocking Ceasefire Deal
A senior Palestinian official speaking to Hezbollah-aligned Al-Mayadeen accused Israel of derailing ceasefire negotiations by clinging to "unreasonable demands," claiming talks remain stalled with “no agreement on any key point.” According to the source, Israel is insisting on maintaining IDF deployment across more than a third of the Gaza Strip — including full control over Rafah — as well as enforcing a 2-kilometer-wide buffer zone along Gaza's northern and eastern borders. The source further claimed that Israel is refusing to shut down GHF aid distribution centers, which, echoing Hamas propaganda, the source referred to as “death traps.” “The situation is extremely difficult and complex,” the official said, adding that the Israeli delegation’s position is making any breakthrough nearly impossible at this stage.
