Two years after the devastating loss of their son Almog Sarusi Hy"d, who was abducted from the Nova festival on October 7 and murdered in Hamas captivity, the Sarusi family is celebrating an extraordinary and deeply moving expansion: Amit Sarusi shared on her Instagram account Tuesday that her parents have welcomed a new baby brother named Lavi.
The infant was born from eggs that his parents, Nira and Yigal, both around 60 years old, had frozen 25 years ago as part of a medical procedure they underwent at the time.
Details of the unusual birth were revealed in a post by Ra'anana Mayor Chaim Broida, who wrote that he attended the bris milah Monday and included a photograph circulated on WhatsApp. According to the post, amid the grief and profound sorrow over Almog's loss, the parents remembered the frozen eggs and decided to embark on a complex search to locate them. After finding them, and with full family support, they pursued surrogacy. Due to gaps in medical technology since the eggs were frozen a quarter-century ago, the first attempts failed, but the final attempt succeeded and led to the long-awaited pregnancy, which was kept secret.
