Police commander backs West Bank authority transfer from IDF to police

The commander of Israel Police's Judea and Samaria District responded to Defense Minister Katz's announcement on transferring civilian authorities in the West Bank from the IDF to police. The commander stated that population growth in Area C and farm development outside communities require adjustments and delegating necessary powers to police. He called for institutionalizing the joint task force involving Central Command, police, and Shin Bet to address extremist violence in the West Bank, describing these as significant measures to thwart terrorism and free up the IDF for primary missions.
