Putin Demands Full Donbas Surrender from Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin is demanding that Ukraine relinquish all territory in the Donbas region, abandon its NATO ambitions, maintain neutrality, and prevent the entry of Western forces, according to Reuters. Putin’s new proposal eases the territorial demands he presented in June 2024, which required Ukraine to cede full control of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia—regions Moscow claims as part of Russia. Kyiv previously rejected these conditions. Under the latest offer, Putin insists that Ukraine fully withdraw from Donbas areas still under its control. In return, Moscow would freeze current frontlines in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
