Israeli government ministers responded Thursday evening to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to the UN General Assembly, praising his speech, with some seizing the opportunity for election messaging.
Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said Netanyahu delivered "a brilliant speech that presented our truth, Israel's truth, in the house of lies of the UN." He added: "Israel's prime minister must be equipped with the abilities and skills to fight for Israel's interests and to be a player on the international stage. The candidates seeking to replace Netanyahu in these elections do not have the capabilities that Netanyahu has."
Defense Minister Israel Katz said: "I congratulate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his powerful speech at the UN. The prime minister represented the State of Israel in the best way, with pride, head held high and without fear in the face of antisemitism, hypocrisy and our enemies. Facing those who seek to defame Israel and tie our hands, the prime minister delivered a clear message: we will not bow our heads, we will not compromise on our security and we will not abandon our future to others. We will continue to stand together, strike our enemies, defend the State of Israel and its citizens, and win, because we have no other choice."
Justice Minister Yair Levin stated: "I congratulate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his excellent speech at the UN General Assembly. Facing the parade of folly by heads of state who surrender time and again to radical Islam, Prime Minister Netanyahu stands and presents the simple truth to the entire world. What is happening at the UN only sharpens the necessity that Prime Minister Netanyahu continue to lead Israel with determination and standing firm on our rights and our security, and not a submissive left-wing government dependent on the votes of anti-Zionist parties."
