Senior Fatah official says PA elections cannot be held in November

Jibril Rajoub, incoming secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, stated he does not believe Palestinian Authority elections can be held this November as scheduled. PA President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree several months ago calling for elections in November. Rajoub said necessary steps should have been taken before publishing the decree, and elections should follow comprehensive national dialogue. The last PA elections were held over 20 years ago.
