Shein Fined €40 Million for Misleading Discount Practices

France’s consumer protection authority has fined Chinese retail giant Shein €40 million after finding that more than half of its advertised sales were not genuine discounts. In 11% of the "deals" reviewed, actual prices were even higher than the listed regular price on the website. Shein responded by claiming it had corrected all such issues over a year ago and denied any manipulation of prices to mislead consumers.
