Shin Bet uncovers terror cell planning attacks in southern Israel

The Shin Bet arrested five suspects from Segev Shalom in May and June 2026 for allegedly planning terrorist activities and forming an armed battalion in the town, modeled after militant groups in the West Bank. The cell planned multiple attacks, including a shooting at the Segev Shalom police station and a combined stabbing and shooting assault at Beersheba's central bus station.
