Slain Hostage Yair Yaakov Laid to Rest After Delay Due to Iran War
Yair Yaakov, whose body was recovered from Gaza, was laid to rest today after his funeral was delayed due to the war with Iran. His children—Shir, Or, and Yagil—parted from him in a deeply emotional ceremony. Yagil Yaakov, just 14 years old, stood at the podium and said: “I never thought I’d have to eulogize you at such a young age. I’m only 14, and look how much I’ve grown since you were taken. I’m glad you watched over me while I was in captivity—you and Hashem. I’m glad you held me. You saw how many breaking points I went through. Despite it all, I’m still here. It’s hard—but I’m happy to finally say: you're here now. Our lives were destroyed in one day, but I promise to carry on your path within me. I’ll pass on your legacy when I marry and have children—because no child will ever have a father like you. A king of a father, who did everything to make me happy. May you finally rest in peace. I love you and miss you endlessly.”
