Smotrich demands increased ultra-Orthodox enlistment as condition for joining next government

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has set increased ultra-Orthodox enlistment rates as a condition for joining the next government, stating "We will bring about a revolution." He set a target that by 2027, soldiers will serve no more than 30 days of reserve duty annually. The plan includes assigning approximately 50,000 additional soldiers to the reserves and establishing a national program for ultra-Orthodox enlistment, with expanded dedicated service tracks for yeshiva students.
