Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded Wednesday to the dramatic hijacking attempt aboard a Fly Dubai flight from the United Arab Emirates to Israel, which made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after passengers and crew overpowered the aircraft, following an attack by the co-pilot on the captain in an attempt to crash the plane.

"The State of Israel must treat the intent, not the results," Smotrich said. "Whoever tried to crash a plane and murder 180 Israelis must pay as if he murdered them. He and any state or terror organization that sent him."
"A psalm of thanksgiving to the Master of the Universe for the great miracle of rescue," he added. "But our duty --- 'I will pursue my enemies and destroy them, and I will not return until they are consumed.'"
