Trump announces demands for Iran on nuclear weapons and Strait of Hormuz
President Trump issued a statement outlining conditions for Iran, demanding the country agree never to possess nuclear weapons or bombs. Trump called for immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz without fees for unrestricted shipping, and removal of naval mines. He stated that enriched nuclear material buried underground following B2 bomber strikes eleven months ago will be extracted by the US in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Trump said the naval blockade will be lifted and ships may begin returning home, adding he will hold a meeting in the Situation Room for a final decision.
