U.S. Central Command reports intercepting Iranian attacks in Strait of Hormuz
U.S. Central Command says American forces intercepted Iranian missile, drone, and small boat attacks targeting three U.S. destroyers—USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason—as they transited the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman. No American assets were damaged. U.S. forces destroyed the threats and struck Iranian military facilities including missile and drone launch sites, command centers, and intelligence hubs. CENTCOM stated the Iranian attacks were unprovoked and that U.S. forces responded in self-defense. Iran's Revolutionary Guards claim the launches were in response to an attack on an Iranian tanker near Jask in southern Iran.
