U.S. confirms for first time it has weapons deployed in space

The United States has confirmed for the first time that it possesses weapons deployed in space. U.S. Air Force Secretary Maync stated that the U.S. has space-based weapons systems capable of protecting its forces from hostile actions, but declined to disclose the type of weapons, number of systems, or launch dates. The U.S. Space Force said the systems can be used for "disruption, degrading capabilities, and even destruction," both defensively and offensively. Experts estimate these are most likely electronic warfare and jamming systems.
