U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman highlights 82nd Airborne readiness for potential Iran conflict

General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division are prepared to deploy immediately into combat with Iran if ordered. Caine said the paratroopers "are always ready to jump from Air Force planes straight into ground combat and seize strategic areas," comparing their readiness to their predecessors' operations in Sicily and Normandy during World War II.
