Israel Alters Missile Alert System Amid Intelligence Gaps
In a significant procedural shift, the IDF’s Home Front Command has updated its missile alert protocols and will no longer rely on the so-called “pre-alert” phase—an early warning sometimes issued when intelligence suggests a possible incoming attack. Going forward, the new alert process will consist of just three streamlined stages: 1. Imminent Launch Assessment – Approximately 10 minutes before expected impact, if an actual launch is identified. 2. Siren Activation – Prompting immediate entry into safe rooms. 3. Time to Impact – Sirens will sound about 90 seconds before the missile is expected to hit.
