Pro-Iranian Militias in Iraq on Heightened Alert

Sources in Baghdad told Al-Akhbar: “Some pro-Iranian militias have already entered a state of alert. There has been a redeployment of combat arrays and the transfer of equipment to secure locations.” A senior official confirmed: “Logistical and military preparations have been completed for carrying out precise strikes against American bases—the moment instructions are received from the leadership of the Axis [of Resistance].” He added, “There will be a painful operation, and it may start from Iraq. The Iraqi factions are not merely agents but partners in decision-making.” The Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported: Concerns are growing among leaders of pro-Iranian militias in Iraq about assassinations through Israeli strikes, similar to the targeting of senior Iranian officials. As a result, many have adopted extensive security measures, including changing residences and canceling routine activities. According to sources close to the pro-Iranian militias, the new precautionary measures included: relocating from somewhat known residences to other areas, changing their phone numbers and those of their regular security personnel, and relocating offices and operational hubs.
