U.S. General Details Precise Tactics Used to Strike Iran’s Fordow Facility

General Dan Kane, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, offered rare insight into the operational tactics behind the strike on Iran’s underground nuclear facility in Fordow. “We chose to hit the ventilation shafts,” Kane explained, revealing that Iran attempted to cover them in the days before the strike, but “we knew the diameter.” The first bomb removed the covering; bombs 2 through 5 were designed to penetrate the shafts and hit the underground infrastructure. A sixth bomb was held in reserve as backup.
