Homefront Command Approved Cheaper Alternative to Reinforced Room Years Ago, but Never Implemented It

Israel’s Homefront Command authorized the use of “protected spaces” as a substitute for traditional reinforced rooms (MAMAD), but the alternative never advanced to widespread implementation. Despite being cheaper and easier to install, bureaucratic delays and political indecision left thousands of homes unprotected. Officials say the concept remains “viable but forgotten.”
