Maj. Gen. Itzik Cohen to Soon Assume Role as Head of IDF Operations Directorate

IDF Spokesperson: Brigadier General Itzik Cohen was promoted today (Sunday) to the rank of Major General in a ceremony held at the “Rabin” military base (The Kirya), led by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and IDF Chief of Staff. The event was attended by members of the General Staff Forum, commanders, and Cohen’s family. He is scheduled to assume his new position this coming Thursday. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated: "The Operations Directorate has always been the beating heart of the IDF. The past 20 months have been the clearest demonstration of the enormous responsibility this role entails. Itzik, along with the rank bestowed upon you comes a heavy burden. During the ‘Iron Swords’ war, you became a source of pride to many—one of the heroes of the campaign. A courageous field commander whose division and subordinate forces achieved inspiring results against the enemy in Gaza. When the Chief of Staff and I discussed the appointment for Head of Operations Directorate and your name came up, there was no hesitation."
