Lebanon Unveils Bold Hezbollah Disarmament Counter plan

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Sharq Al-Awsat" reveals that Lebanon has crafted a counterproposal to the American envoy Tom Brack’s initiative to disarm Hezbollah through a "step-for-step" approach, which includes an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese soil. Drafted by advisors to President Aoun, Prime Minister Salam, and Parliament Speaker Berri during a late-night session at the Baabda Presidential Palace, the plan has the backing of all three leaders. Berri is set to negotiate with Hezbollah, who are likely to seek assurances of Israel’s compliance, as Brack prepares to return to Beirut within two weeks. (Roi Kais)
