Cairo pressing Israel and Hamas to agree to Gaza ceasefire

Sources told the newspaper "Masari Al-Youm" that Cairo has been increasing pressure in recent days on both Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas in an effort to secure a comprehensive hostage deal, not just a temporary ceasefire. According to the sources, delegations from both sides are expected to arrive in Cairo this week, along with representatives already present in the Egyptian capital working to resolve points of disagreement. The sources added that Egypt and the U.S. are applying pressure through working meetings and separate talks with Israel and Hamas. A Hamas official told the newspaper that the organization is "open to any conditions aimed at ending Palestinian suffering." Additionally, senior Hamas official abroad Mahmoud Mardawi told "Masari Al-Youm" that recent U.S. statements "do not reflect reality or serious proposals presented to Hamas." According to him, there may be ongoing negotiations between Israel and the Trump administration, but Hamas has not yet received any new offers. Hamas leaders have claimed in recent days that no significant breakthrough has been made in the talks.
