Saudi Report: Hamas Signals Positive Response to Gaza Ceasefire Deal
Hamas has informed multiple parties of its inclination to accept a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza, with a potential positive response expected as early as tonight, July 3, 2025, according to Saudi reports. The deal, brokered by Qatar and Egypt, includes a 60-day ceasefire and the release of half the remaining hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and remains, with further negotiations to follow. Sources indicate Hamas is seeking assurances that the truce will lead to a permanent end to the war, a condition Israel has resisted, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisting on Hamas’s elimination. Israeli media report that a technical delegation may be sent to Doha or Cairo if Hamas agrees, amid heightened U.S. pressure on mediators.
