Fatah Claims Victory in Palestinian Bar Association Election

Fatah is celebrating a significant win after securing 8 out of 9 seats in the Palestinian Bar Association elections held yesterday across the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The newly elected members will serve a three-year term. In the previous council, Hamas held three seats and another was held by a representative affiliated with Mohammed Dahlan, a rival of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Fatah’s sweeping gains mark a notable expansion of its influence within the association. In an official statement following the victory, Fatah declared the outcome a “crucial public referendum” that reflects widespread support for the movement’s path among Palestinians. (Abu Ali)
