Police, Shin Bet Foil Another Iranian Recruitment Attempt
In a joint statement, Israel Police and the Shin Bet announced the thwarting of another Iranian intelligence operation on Israeli soil. The Tel Aviv District Fraud Division, in coordination with the Shin Bet, completed the investigation of a Tel Aviv resident suspected of carrying out assignments for Iranian handlers. According to authorities, the suspect was tasked with photographing the homes of Israeli public officials as well as military installations. A prosecutorial statement was filed in court earlier today, signaling pending formal charges. Officials say the case underscores ongoing efforts by Iranian intelligence to infiltrate and collect sensitive data within Israel, often by exploiting Israeli civilians through online contact and covert tasking.
