Egypt Opposes Israel’s Plans to Continue the War
Egypt, playing a key role in Israel-Hamas negotiations, sharply criticizes Israel’s ongoing war plans, effectively siding with the terrorist organization. Cairo warns these steps could directly threaten its national security. According to an Egyptian source quoted in Qatar’s Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed newspaper, the recent Egyptian security delegation expressed clear reservations about Israel’s proposed troop redeployment in Gaza. Of particular concern is Israel’s plan to build a “tent city” in Rafah for hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees, right on Egypt’s border. The source says such a city would create a “human bomb” along Gaza’s southern border, destabilizing the area and posing a direct threat to Egyptian security. Egypt warns this will trigger waves of escapes, smuggling, and infiltration attempts, forcing it to allocate huge resources to secure the border. Recently, Hamas, Qatar, and now Egypt have formed a united front against Israel’s war plans, apparently coordinating efforts to pressure Israel into concessions that would effectively guarantee Hamas’s survival as an armed terror group after the war ends.
