Edelstein to Haredim: Don't dismantle government now

Yuli Edelstein, a senior Israeli lawmaker, called on Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) factions on July 15, 2025, to refrain from destabilizing the right-wing government during a sensitive period, amid tensions over a proposed military draft law. However, he expressed frustration that Haredi representatives rejected his proposed draft law outline, which includes effective personal and institutional sanctions, high recruitment targets, and robust enforcement mechanisms. “We cannot compromise on these principles, otherwise it’s a sham,” Edelstein stated, warning that without these elements, the law would lack credibility.
