Violence at Gaza Aid Site Leaves 20 Dead

A deadly surge at a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution site in Khan Younis claimed 20 lives on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025, the organization confirmed. Nineteen people were trampled, and one was stabbed during a chaotic stampede incited by armed individuals allegedly affiliated with Hamas, marking a violent escalation at the SDS3 site. The GHF reported that the chaos was deliberately sparked by agitators, with firearms spotted for the first time since the organization began operations in the region. One weapon was confiscated, and an American staff member was threatened at gunpoint during the incident. The tragedy follows a wave of misleading Telegram messages directing desperate civilians to closed or inactive aid sites, including SDS4 in Wadi Gaza and SDS1 in Tal Sultan. On Wednesday night, the GHF issued a warning in Arabic on Facebook, urging people to disregard unverified sources and rely solely on official GHF channels for accurate information.Despite the risks and disinformation, the GHF reaffirmed its commitment to delivering aid safely and with integrity, vowing to continue its humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
