Israeli Citizen Released from Lebanon After Year in Captivity

The Prime Minister’s Office, via the Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) retired Brig. Gen. Gal Hirsch, announced that Israeli citizen Salah Abu-Hussein, who had been held in Lebanon for approximately one year, returned to Israel Thursday afternoon. Abu-Hussein was handed over to Israeli authorities at the Rosh Hanikra crossing following months of negotiations facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross. After an initial medical evaluation and questioning, the IDF transferred him to a hospital for comprehensive examinations. Authorities confirmed he will soon reunite with his family. The circumstances surrounding his detention are currently under investigation by Israeli security forces.
