Orthodox Youth Ordered to Pay Half-Million Shekels After Assaulting Student
A court has awarded nearly NIS 500,000 in damages to a student who was seriously injured several years ago by a young Orthodox man, after the attacker was not criminally convicted due to his expressed intention to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces. The incident, which left the student with significant injuries, initially saw no legal consequences for the assailant, who ultimately did not enlist. The student, who went on to become an engineer, pursued a civil lawsuit against his attacker. The Tel Aviv court ruled in his favor, ordering the former Orthodox youth to pay substantial compensation for the harm caused.
