Iranian Reformist Slams FM Ahead of Snapback Activation
The reformist-aligned newspaper Ham Mihan published a sharp editorial by senior reformist Abbas Abdi targeting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, just hours before the expected activation of the Snapback mechanism. Abdi directly blames Araghchi for the failure of negotiations with the U.S. and calls for his immediate replacement. According to Abdi, Araghchi shows no initiative, does not lead an independent foreign policy, and acts solely according to instructions “from above”—meaning from Khamenei and the heads of the Revolutionary Guards. The criticism also targets Araghchi’s setting of preconditions for talks with Washington, such as securing assurances that no attacks would occur during negotiations—what Abdi calls an “embarrassing declaration.”
