Palestinian-American Liaison Says Hamas Agreed to Deal After Trump Post

In an interview with Saudi outlet al-Arabiya, Palestinian-American political activist Bishara Bahbah said he has been acting as a liaison between the Trump administration and Hamas, though he is not an official member of the U.S. negotiating team. Bahbah told the network that when he first raised the idea of a comprehensive deal, Hamas was skeptical, unsure whether the initiative was official. But after seeing President Donald Trump’s social media post calling for an end to the war, the group “was convinced it was official, and immediately responded that they agree to this deal.” U.S. officials have not publicly commented on Bahbah’s role.
