Israeli-Made Drone Deployed Over Gaza-Bound Flotilla

A Heron unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and leased to the Greek military, has been spotted patrolling over the Global “Sumud” Flotilla en route to Gaza. The long-endurance drone is being operated by Greece as part of a defense leasing agreement signed with Israel’s Defense Ministry five years ago. The Heron platform is primarily used for maritime surveillance and border protection missions, but its current flight path has drawn attention amid heightened tensions surrounding the flotilla. The convoy, carrying humanitarian aid and pro-Palestinian activists, has already reported multiple drone-related incidents in recent days, including unexplained explosions and suspected jamming attempts in international waters near Greece. The Greek military has not commented on the UAV’s deployment over the flotilla, which continues its course toward Gaza despite Israeli warnings that it will not be permitted to dock.
