IDF’s New Military Advocate General Tours Gaza Front

About a month after taking office, Israel’s new Military Advocate General, Maj. Gen. Itai Ofir, conducted a field tour in the Gaza Strip on Monday alongside Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor and additional senior commanders. Maj. Gen. Ofir said the visit was essential for gaining a firsthand understanding of the operational reality facing IDF troops in the southern combat zone. “It was important for me, immediately at the start of my tenure, to see up close the complex reality and the challenges facing IDF soldiers and commanders on the southern front,” he said. “A central part of the Military Advocate General’s role is to provide legal solutions that enable the IDF to carry out its missions and win the war.”
