Renowned Stanford historian and military analyst Victor Davis Hanson says the signals from the US campaign against Iran are unmistakable: America is winning, and the Islamic Republic’s regime is on the brink of collapse.
In a detailed assessment, Hanson, who has studied how wars end for five decades, urges everyone to ignore the propaganda and watch what regional players are actually doing.
Key signals according to Hanson:
- Europeans are quietly moving assets and offering support. “They never touch a conflict until they smell victory,” he notes. Early silence has turned to action.
- Gulf states (Saudis, Emiratis, Qataris) are expelling Iranian attachés, silently intercepting missiles, and the UAE just reaffirmed its $1.4 trillion investment commitment in the US, right in the middle of the war. “These are bets. They’re all-in on America.”
- Al Jazeera, the Qatari network that hosts Hamas offices and the largest US air base, is now calling America’s bombing campaign “brilliant” and “underestimated.”
- US military reality: A-10 Warthogs and Apache gunships are striking deep inside Iranian airspace. These slow, low-flying platforms only operate when enemy air defenses have been effectively neutralized.
Hanson says Iran’s only remaining strategy is to drag out the fight and hope US public opinion or midterm pressure forces President Trump to back down.
His verdict: “If Trump sees it through, and he will, the regime falls. Not in years. Pretty soon.”
