IDF solves 78-year mystery of soldier's burial from 1948 war

The IDF has determined that Dov Fermat, who fell in the 1948 battles at Malikiya, was buried in a mass grave at Ma'oz Hayyim alongside 16 other IDF soldiers. His family was informed yesterday by Brigadier General Edna Ilia, IDF Chief Manpower Officer and Head of the Casualties Department. A military ceremony will be held in the near future to add a headstone bearing Fermat's name at the Ma'oz Hayyim military cemetery, closing the circle after nearly 78 years.
