U.S. Defense Secretary dismisses Army Chief of Staff during Iran operation

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has dismissed U.S. Army Chief of Staff Randy George in the midst of ongoing operations in Iran. No reason for the dismissal has been published. Two other senior officers were also dismissed: General David Hooden and Major General William Green Jr. Hegseth appointed General Christopher La Neve as acting Chief of Staff to replace George. La Neve previously served as senior military aide to Hegseth and commanded the 82nd Airborne Division, recently mentioned in connection with U.S. forces landing in Iran.
