Shin Bet arrests Haifa resident for producing explosives for Iranian intelligence

The Shin Bet and Israel Police have arrested Ami Gaydarov, 22, a Haifa resident, on suspicion of carrying out security missions for Iranian intelligence, including producing explosives intended to harm a senior public figure. Gaydarov was arrested in March 2026 after being in contact with an Iranian operative since August 2025, carrying out numerous missions in exchange for large sums of money. He purchased dedicated phones, rented an apartment in Haifa to manufacture explosives, and documented his activities for his handlers. Several additional Israeli citizens from the north, including Sergey Libman and Eduard Shubtiuk, were arrested for assisting in purchasing materials and concealing explosives. During the "Roar of the Lion" war, Gaydarov was instructed to send images of Haifa port and missile impact sites to Iranian intelligence.
