US and Iran exchange strikes in Persian Gulf overnight
The US and Iran conducted multiple rounds of strikes against each other overnight in the Persian Gulf region. The US Navy struck an Iranian oil tanker attempting to break a blockade near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated by attacking the Panaya tanker, which it claims has US and Israeli links. The US then struck a communications center on Qeshm Island. Iran responded with two waves of ballistic missiles and UAVs targeting American bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, and also launched strikes toward Kurdish targets in northern Iraq. The US stated all Iranian missiles and UAVs were intercepted with no American casualties. Bahrain's airspace was temporarily closed, and civilian flights across Gulf states were delayed.
