Police Complete Investigation into Former Foreign Minister Eli Cohen Over Diplomatic Passport Fraud
Israel's National Fraud Investigation Unit has completed its investigation into former Foreign Minister MK Eli Cohen and public employees from the ministry on suspicion of integrity-related offenses. The probe, opened in January 2024 with Attorney General approval, focused on allegations of breach of trust involving the issuance of diplomatic passports to various individuals for improper reasons. Dozens of witnesses were questioned and numerous documents seized during the investigation, which was supervised by the State Attorney's Taxation and Economics Division. The case has now been forwarded to the State Attorney's Office for review and decision on potential charges.
