Likud MK Bitan petitions party court to block selection committee, demands primaries
MK David Bitan filed an urgent petition with the Likud Party Court seeking to prevent the cancellation of primaries and their replacement with a selection committee. The petition argues this constitutes a "constitutional coup" that violates party members' voting rights and contradicts the party constitution and previous court rulings. Bitan stated: "You cannot deny tens of thousands of members their right to choose their representatives to the Knesset a month before the primaries and change the rules of the game mid-game. I believe in the Likud members and in their right to decide – not in an appointed committee."
