Iran closes Strait of Hormuz, halts vessel passage permits
Iran's Fars News Agency reports that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, with the Revolutionary Guards' naval force suspending all vessel passage permits until further notice, according to a military source. The strait is a critical global shipping chokepoint through which about one-fifth of the world's oil passes.
