US-Iran talks in Qatar: Conflicting accounts emerge from Doha negotiations

Qatari and Iranian officials offer contradictory versions of ongoing talks in Doha. Qatar's Foreign Ministry says US envoys Witkoff and Kushner will arrive to discuss negotiations, and that $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds have not yet been transferred to Tehran. Iran's Foreign Ministry denies any plans to meet with Americans "at any level," stating talks concern only implementation of a memorandum of understanding with Qatar. Iran says the release of frozen assets is underway and hopes for a successful conclusion. The two sides also differ on demining the Strait of Hormuz, with Qatar praising French participation while Iran insists it is Iran's exclusive responsibility.
