US Media Report Iran Agreed to Give Up Enriched Uranium
The New York Times and New York Post report that Iran has agreed to give up its enriched uranium as part of an emerging agreement with the United States. According to the Times, the deal would include a ceasefire on all fronts, opening of the Strait of Hormuz, removal of naval mines by Iran, and unfreezing approximately $25 billion in Iranian funds. However, Iranian news agency Fars denies claims about the Hormuz situation returning to its previous state. Details of the agreement have not been officially released, and reports contain contradictory information. Negotiations on the nuclear issue and ceasefire implementation are expected to follow any announcement.
