US sanctions on Iran force Turkey to choose between trade ties and Trump administration penalties

Turkey faces a dilemma following new US sanctions on Iran, as it must either halt significant trade with Tehran or risk penalties from the Trump administration. Bloomberg reports that Iran supplies 13% of Turkey's natural gas consumption and is Turkey's third largest trading partner, with billions of dollars in bilateral trade. The sanctions were announced two days ago as part of a US economic isolation campaign against Iran and countries conducting business with it.
