WSJ: Netanyahu Warns Trump of Renewed Strikes on Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. President Donald Trump this week that Israel will launch another strike on Iran should it detect renewed efforts by Tehran to advance its nuclear weapons program, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Trump reportedly responded by expressing a preference for a diplomatic resolution with Iran but did not object to Netanyahu’s remarks. The conversation was held during Netanyahu’s recent US trip. The Journal noted that Israeli and American officials remain divided over how to manage the long-term threat from Iran, with Netanyahu continuing to advocate a policy of preemption while Trump appears to favor negotiations — at least for now.
