Police arrested a man Wednesday after he was caught on camera attempting to abduct a young girl in a crosswalk in Petah Tikva, in an incident that ended in a second arrest hours later after the suspect attacked medical staff during a psychiatric evaluation.
Footage of the incident shows the suspect grabbing the girl from behind, lifting her, and attempting to flee the scene with her. Civilians who witnessed the attempted abduction called police, who arrived and arrested the suspect. Officers confirmed the girl was unharmed.
The suspect was subsequently sent for a psychiatric evaluation. While there, he attacked the medical staff treating him and was arrested for a second time as a result. He was taken into custody and sent to a hospital.
