Search teams recovered the body of a man who was swept away in a flash flood in Be'er Sheva, ending a search operation that began Sunday afternoon.

The victim had attempted to extricate his vehicle after it became caught in the rushing waters of Be'er Sheva Wadi. When he realized the car was sinking, he tried to jump to the riverbank but missed and was carried away by the powerful current, according to local emergency services.

Fire and rescue forces have been operating at the site since Sunday evening. The body was located this morning during sweeps of the wadi near the Neve Noy neighborhood.

Units from the Special Rescue Unit (Yalam) are currently working to extract the body from the wadi in coordination with all relevant authorities.

The incident demonstrates the dangers of flash flooding in Israel's desert regions, where seasonal storms can rapidly transform dry riverbeds into torrents. Authorities regularly warn against attempting to cross or retrieve vehicles from flooded wadis, where strong currents pose fatal risks even in seemingly shallow water.
