"New Hope" vs. "Political Deceit": Israeli Representatives Clash Over Bennett-Lapid Merger
The dramatic formation of the "Together" party has ignited a fierce war of words, as opposition figures celebrate a "new era" while coalition members warn of a dangerous alliance with Arab parties.

The Israeli political landscape was set ablaze in the last 12 hours following the announcement that Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid are joining forces under the new "BeYachad" (Together) banner for the 2026 elections.
While the architects of the merger described the move as a patriotic act to repair the nation, public officials across the aisle were quick to frame it as a cynical power grab.
Leading the charge from the right, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir (Otzma Yehudit) slammed the union, alleging that "its true goal is to hand state control over to the Islamic Movement".
Similarly, Likud MK Tali Gottlieb lashed out at the move, calling it a betrayal of right-wing voters.
On the other side of the isreli political map, Yair Golan, chairman of The "Democrats" party, welcomed the merger as a vital step toward unseating the current government.
Even within the Arab sector, MK Ahmad Tibi reacted by calling the Arab parties to learn from Bennett-Lapid merger and unite their own ranks to increase their political influence.
Although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not release an Audio or visual statement responding the dramatic political move, he issued a pointed reminder through social media. The Isreli Prime minister shared a past image of the "Change Government" with Ra’am leader Mansour Abbas, warning the public that history is at risk of repeating itself.
Netanyahu cautioned that a "Together" victory would inevitably lead to a government held hostage by Arab parties, a scenario he claims would compromise Israel's national security and core identity.
