Continued Agony

How Israel is paying for Trump's ceasefire

The U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire faces its first deadly test as Hamas ambushes Israeli troops, killing two soldiers and prompting Israeli airstrikes, threatening the fragile truce just days after the release of 20 hostages.

The U.S.-brokered ceasefire in Gaza, barely a week old, teetered on the brink Sunday after Hamas terrorists ambushed Israeli troops in southern Gaza, killing two soldiers and injuring others in what Israel branded a "blatant violation" of the truce.

The slain soldiers were identified as Major Yaniv Kula, 26, and Staff Sergeant Itay Yavetz, the first IDF fatalities in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect.

In retaliation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unleashed a barrage of airstrikes and artillery fire across the enclave, temporarily halting humanitarian aid deliveries, marking the most severe test yet for the fragile agreement mediated by President Donald Trump.

Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades denied orchestrating the attack, asserting it was "unaware" of clashes in the IDF-controlled zone and reaffirming commitment to the truce, while accusing Israel of arming rival Palestinian clans for reprisals.

The IDF, after its attacks, reaffirmed that the ceasefire is now in effect.

Last week, we were overjoyed to get our 20 living hostages out of the hands of Hamas. But now we are starting to see the never ending price we will pay for their return and the never ending agony that October 7th has unleashed on Israel and on Jews all over the world.
